SSU opens criminal proceeding against UOC-MP church abbot who helped ruscists during occupation of Kyiv region
The SSU is investigating facts of collaboration by an abbot of a church of moscow patriarchate’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Borodyanka, Viktor Talko.
The SSU is currently verifying information that he possibly aided ruscists in the forced deportation of almost 100 residents of Kyiv region to belarus during the temporary occupation of the area.
The SSU is also investigating the circumstances of a russian torture chamber operating on the territory of the church run by Talko.
According to the preliminary conclusions, the cleric offered the occupiers to use the basement of the religious institution to imprison members of the resistance movement.
As has been established, only from 29 to 31 March 2022 the ruscists held there 3 Ukrainian volunteers who had brought humanitarian aid for local people.
Additionally, the SSU initiated a linguistic examination to verify the archpriest’s public calls to support the invaders in the war against Ukraine.
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Article 111-1.4 of the CCU - collaboration. The investigation is underway.
Based on its results, a decision will be taken regarding notifying Talko of suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint. The clergyman is facing up to 5 years in prison.
The investigation is carried out under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
