SSU hits over 100 strategic targets behind enemy lines and more than 21,000 front line targets during 40-day operation to exert pressure on russia
As part of the 40-day campaign to exert pressure on the aggressor state, endorsed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Security Service carried out over 100 successful strikes on strategically important targets in russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
To continue these efforts, the President signed off on new operations for the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Major General Oleksandr Poklad.
Over the previous 40 days, the Security Service’s strikes have targeted enterprises within the military-industrial complex, air bases, air defence systems, the occupiers’ command posts, military vessels and tankers of the ‘shadow fleet’, oil refineries, as well as transport and military logistics facilities.
At the same time, SSU units operating on the front line and behind enemy lines have destroyed over 21,000 items of military equipment, weaponry and military infrastructure, and eliminated nearly 5,000 occupiers.
Systematic destruction of military aviation and air defence
One of the main focuses of the campaign has been the systematic destruction of the enemy’s aviation infrastructure. During this period, the SSU carried out strikes on the military airfields of Saky, Hvardiyske, Belbek, Bagerovo, Engels and Khanskaya, as well as on the Yevpatoria Aviation Plant.
As a result, a Tu-95MS strategic bomber has been destroyed; the destruction of two Su-35 fighters and two L-39 combat-training aircraft has been confirmed; hangars housing Su-24s, Su-30 and Su-30SM aircraft, hangars housing Shahed drones and the airfields’ fuel infrastructure have been hit.
At the same time, the SSU was systematically weakening russia’s air defence system. Targets included the Nebo-U radar, the 92N6E multi-functional radar of the S-400 system, the Tor-M2 air defence system, the Pantsir-S2 air defence system, the Pole-21 electronic warfare system, three Podlyot-K1 radars and the Kasta-2E2 radar.
Kinetic sanctions against russia’s fuel and energy sector
One of the key focuses of the campaign was the systematic targeting of russia’s fuel and energy infrastructure.
Over 40 days, the SSU carried out strikes against 14 oil refineries, dozens of oil depots, tank farms, oil pumping stations, oil terminals and an oil production platform.
Among the most important targets were the St Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm and Volgograd oil refineries, three oil refineries in Ufa, the First Plant complex, the Cherkasy and Subhankulovo oil pumping stations, as well as the oil production platform at the Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea.
Strikes against shadow fleet
A key focus of the special operation was the systematic targeting of vessels belonging to russia’s shadow fleet, which are used to circumvent international sanctions.
The tankers Blue, Louise 1, Banda and Avero were struck, as were two cargo ships subject to international sanctions.
Results of front-line combat operations
In parallel with long-range operations, SSU units continued to inflict losses on the enemy directly on the battlefield. During the period in question, 24 tanks, 63 armoured fighting vehicles, 124 artillery systems, 22 multiple launch rocket systems, 40 air defence systems and 14 aircraft and helicopters were destroyed.
A separate focus was the destruction of the enemy’s unmanned systems. Over 11,000 UAVs and ground-based robotic systems were destroyed, including 176 Shahed-type UAVs (Geran), as well as 712 UAV crews along with their positions, launchers and equipment.
In addition, SSU units systematically destroyed ammunition and fuel depots, command posts, communications nodes, electronic warfare assets, military logistics and other critical enemy infrastructure.
Overall, the 40-day campaign was aimed at simultaneously weakening key elements of the russian military machine. In terms of intensity, geographical scope and the number of strategic targets struck simultaneously, this operation proved to be an effective means of exerting pressure on the aggressor state. Efforts to degrade russia’s military and economic potential will continue.
