SBU finds arms cache near contact line and detains its owner

In Luhansk region, the SBU found a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives. During the investigative actions, an offender was detained.

A resident of Shchastia district equipped the cache in the yard of his house.

During searches of the offender’s residence, law enforcement officers seized:

  • almost 1 kg of TNT;
  • 3 detonators;
  • 18 RGD-5 and F-1 grenades;
  • grenade fuzes;
  • an artillery shell;
  • 400 g of gunpowder;
  • 2 TT pistols and a Nagant revolver with rounds;
  • 4 signal mines;
  • a reactive signal cartridge;
  • almost 1800 different caliber rounds.

The seized inventory was sent for examination.

According to findings, the offender planned to sell weapons through personal contacts, including criminal ones.

The pre-trail investigation into illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosives is ongoing. Terms of detention and serving of a suspicion notice within criminal proceedings are being considered.

The offender faces up to 7 years in prison.

The operation was conducted by officers of the SBU Main Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions jointly with the National Police and under the supervision of the Luhansk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
