Luhansk region: SBU finds artillery shells and bombs

The SBU detected a wide range of military weapons near the village in Luhansk region. Earlier, in 2014 militants shelled the ATO forces positions in this area.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers discovered 18 artillery shells, five VOG-17 grenade launchers, three mortar bombs of various modifications and four grenades in the forest near the village of Vovkodaieve, Shchastya district. The pieces of cluster munitions of the Smerch multiple rocket launcher system were found as well.

According to preliminary estimates, the total weight of the munition was about 100 kg in TNT equivalent.

Allegedly, the weapons were remained after rocket fire on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Pobieda and Dmytrivka settlements.

The seized cluster munitions materials will be included in the criminal proceedings initiated for terrorist act.

The operation was carried out jointly with the State Emergency Service units.
