SBU uncovers militants' cache with shells, grenades and explosives

The SBU found three caches in Luhansk region arranged by militants. Among the seized: warheads for Smerch multiple rocket launcher and over 30 kg of explosives.

The information about possible arrangement of the cache by a reconnaissance group that may be involved in detonation of two bridges in Pidhorivka and Yevsug villages in July 2014, is being checked.

In a cache, arranged in a forest belt near the village of Ternove, Starobilskyi district, SBU officers found:

  • seven warheads for Smerch multiple rocket launcher, which contain almost 10 kg of hexogen;
  • 12 RGD-5 and F-1 grenades.

Allegedly, militants set up the cache after the shelling of ATO forces in 2014.

From another cache, walled up in the abandoned building near the village of Krynychky, the SBU seized:

  • 20 kg of TNT;
  • detonator;
  • grenade launcher RPG-22;
  • five combat grenades;
  • three grenade launcher shells;
  • over 200 rounds.

Another cache, found in a forest belt near the enterprise in Rubizhne town, contained:

  • six RPG-26 anti-tank grenades;
  • nine TNT blocks, total weight two kg;
  • three MON-50 anti-personnel mines;
  • 43 RKG, F-1 and RGD-5 grenades with fuses;
  • one package of plastid;
  • detonator capsules;
  • rocket flares.

Investigation is ongoing to identify and prosecute people involved in illegal activities.

The operation was carried out jointly with the National Police and the pyrotechnic unit of the State Emergency Service.
