SBU detects arms caches in basement of high-rise building and former children's camp

The Security Service of Ukraine found arms caches of IAF militants near the contact line and in the center of Sievierodonetsk city. Apart from another, a hand anti-personnel grenade of Russian production was seized.

From the cache arranged on the territory of the abandoned children's camp in the Starobilskyi district, law enforcement officers seized:

  • 6.5 kg of TNT;
  • fragmentation hand grenade with fuse;
  • VOG-25 grenade launcher;
  • ammunition for small arms.

According to operative data, the cache was arranged by militants’ leaders during the armed resistance to the ATO forces in the summer of 2014.

Another arms cache, law enforcement officers found in the basement of a high-rise building in the center of Sievierodonetsk.

The following items were seized from the cache:

  • RGO-hand anti-tank grenade of Russian production with fuse;
  • RGD-5 grenades with fuses;
  • reactive star signal cartridge.

A local resident who illegally stored detected munitions has now been identified. He was served suspicion notice of illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. The issue of choosing a type of detention for him is being resolved.

Investigative actions are underway. 

Measures to seize weapons and ammunition were carried out by officers of the SBU Main Directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk regions together with units of the National Police and the State Emergency Service.
