SSU exposes russian agent who created 20 pro-russian online media in Ukraine (video)

According to the SSU Cyber Department, the suspect is a resident of Kyiv. He was supervised by russian special services and was tasked to spread ideas of ‘russkiy mir’ [russian world] in Ukraine through propaganda. Their ultimate goal is to increase pro-russian sentiment among Ukrainians.

To do this, the agent was tasked to create over 20 online media. They regularly justified the armed aggression of russia and glorified its participants. These web resources disseminated knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine and discredited Ukrainian defenders.

Overall audience of these web resources was over 2.2 million unique users per month.

The agent has been detained. The investigators have notified him of suspicion of a crime under Article 436-2.3 of the CCU (production and distribution of material in which russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine is justified, recognized as lawful and denied).

The crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years with possible confiscation of property.

The SSU Cyber ​​Security Department and SSU investigators carried out the operation under procedural supervision of Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
