SSU exposes FSB agents who helped enemy destroy shipbuilding infrastructure in southern Ukraine

The SSU has detained two agents of the enemy’s network in Mykolaiv region.

Instructed by russian special services, they carried out reconnaissance and sabotage: collected and passed to the enemy intelligence on major infrastructure facilities, fuel depots, deployment and movement of personnel and equipment of Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The occupiers used these data to launch targeted missile strikes and massive artillery shelling of the city and the positions of Ukrainian defenders.

As a result of the agents’ actions, the enemy destroyed and damaged several facilities of Mykolaiv shipbuilding infrastructure including Equator, Krystal and Ocean plants, warehouses with fuel and lubricants, as well as social infrastructure.

According to the investigation, the individuals involved came to the attention of russian special services because of their pro-russian views, which they did not hide.

With the beginning of the large-scale invasion, the so-called ‘responsible for gathering intelligence in Mykolaiv region’ approached them. Further, he was an intermediary between the FSB, which coordinated activities, and the network.

The agents carried out constant visual surveillance of targets and sent data to supervisors using secure communication channels.

They also involved their acquaintances in fulfilling some of the assignments.

During the searches of suspects’ homes, investigators seized equipment used for transmitting information.

The detainees have been notified of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information about transfer of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine). The court has decided to keep the suspects in custody.

The agents face from 8 to 12 years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing to identify other persons involved in the network.

The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
