SSU dismantles FSB intelligence network spying in three regions of Ukraine simultaneously
The SSU Counterintelligence has exposed an agent network of russia’s federal security service that guided russian air strikes against the Defence Forces in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions.
Following a multi-stage special operation, the SSU simultaneously detained four enemy informants in the eastern and central regions of Ukraine.
The investigation revealed that they operated independently of one another but shared a common russian handler.
The enemy’s priority ‘targets’ were logistics depots containing the Defence Forces’ weapons and ammunition, as well as Ukrainian air defence combat positions.
In addition, the agents were gathering data on locations with the highest concentrations of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel and military equipment.
The individuals who became russia’s agents came to the attention of the russian intelligence when they posted anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channel chat rooms.
One of the members turned out to be a former employee of a machine-building plant in Kramatorsk. He collected intelligence for the enemy on the geolocations of operational airfields and fortifications in the region.
Two other agents were providing the coordinates of Ukrainian military installations in the Dnipropetrovsk region to the russians. Among them were an employee of a municipal utility company from Kamyanske and a deserter from Pavlohrad.
Also, in the Kirovohrad region, an unemployed man from Znamyanka has been detained; acting on orders from the FSB, he surveyed the town and recorded geolocations of sites which, in his opinion, were used by the Defence Forces.
To maintain secrecy, the assets passed information to the russian intelligence via an anonymous chat in a messaging app, and deleted their texts after each communication session.
The SSU uncovered these sabotage activities at an early stage, documented their crimes and detained all four participants.
During searches of the suspects’ premises, mobile phones containing evidence of their work for the FSB were seized.
SSU investigators notified the detainees of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
