SSU officers documented a new embezzlement scheme at JSC Ukrzaliznytsia. Allegedly, the perpetrators entered an inaccurate information about the amount of work performed, which allowed them to steal about UAH 2 m (USD 74,600).

The scheme was organized by two employees of the contractor’s company, which won several dozen tenders of Ukrzaliznytsia.

The perpetrators had the support of certain employees of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, who turned a blind eye to the forged documents. Among their schemes was the entering of inaccurate data on the amount of work performed. For example, when repairing wheelsets, it was noted that they were repaired twice, although it was done only once. Thus, the repair of certain equipment was carried out only on paper.

SSU initiated examinations, which confirmed these illegal actions and losses to JSC Ukrzaliznytsia in the amount of about UAH 2 m (USD 74,600).

Currently, the officials received the suspicion notice of the misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation and forgery in office.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Main Directorate of Economic Counterintelligence Protection of State's Interests, the SSU Office in Zaporizzhia region jointly with the State Fiscal Service Division in Zaporizzhia Region under the supervision of the Zaporizzhia Region Prosecutor's Office.
