SBU exposes officials on selling of combatant status in Dnipropetrovsk region
The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed the scheme of selling the combatant status. According to preliminary information, the illegal mechanism has been in effect since October 2020. During this time, several dozen people used services of the offenders.
According to available information, the scheme was organized by officials of one of the military garrisons of Dnipropetrovsk region. According to the documents, they sent servicemen to the JFO area, but in fact the latter stayed in the cantonment area.
After the end of the terms of assignment in the JFO area, servicemen who have never been in the front line, applied for the combatant status with appropriate benefits and state payments.
Such a service cost 50% of the monthly bonus of UAH 20,000, which was set for servicemen during their staying in the JFO area.
As part of the criminal proceedings, the official-organizer of the scheme was served suspicion notice under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Investigative actions are underway to establish the involvement of other persons in the offense.
The corruption scheme was exposed together with the employees of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Poltava city, under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
