SSU uncovers ex-officials who helped ruscists shell gas networks in Kharkiv region
The SSU has exposed another two enemy accomplices who cooperated with the aggressor during the battle for Kharkiv.
The perpetrators are two former officials of a branch of the state-owned company Kharkivgaz, who supported the invaders after the occupation of the area.
For this, one of them was appointed head of the occupation ‘gas service’, and his accomplice – ‘chief engineer’ of the fake entity.
Immediately after ‘appointment’, they handed over maps of the region’s gas networks to the russians.
The aggressor used these data to prepare multiple strikes on the region.
The occupiers also used the cartographic information to arrange engineering barriers and minefields to deter Ukrainian counter-offensive operations.
The suspected officials also stole gas from the Ukrainian gas transmission system for the invaders.
To do this, they restored the operation of a gas distribution station in the then-occupied Chuhuiv district.
According to the investigation, the ruscists used the stolen gas to heat the temporary bases of russian troops and the russian local occupation administration.
After the liberation of the area, both enemy accomplices hid in Vovchansk, and later tried to lay low in a rented apartment in Kharkiv.
The SSU established the location of the suspects and detained them.
Based on the evidence, the detainees were notified of suspicion under Articles 28.1, 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding the aggressor state, committed by a group).
The suspects are in custody, facing up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
