SSU exposes leadership of Cherkasy chemical plant on cooperation with russia
The Security Service of Ukraine has shut down another scheme used to circumvent sanctions on exports of Ukrainian products to the aggressor state. This time, the SSU uncovered the cooperation of the management of a Cherkasy chemical enterprise with russia.
According to the investigation, the Ukrainian chemical plant set up wholesale supplies of fertilizers and minerals for russia’s agricultural sector.
During 2022-2024, the perpetrators illegally smuggled their products worth USD 1.8 million to russia.
To do that, they used an affiliated company in the Middle East.
It has been documented that the products of the Cherkasy manufacturer were first sent to a Middle Eastern ‘intermediary’ and then re-exported to russia.
Among the key russian customers were some of the largest companies in the agro-industrial complex, including Shchelkovo Agrokhim and Alterit.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the enterprise has supplied more than 216 tons of chemical products to russian companies.
The organizers used anonymous chats in messenger apps and e-mail to discuss illegal deliveries and continue their clandestine business.
During the searches, the SSU found documents, mobile phones and computer equipment with evidence.
SSU investigators served the head of the Cherkasy company a notice of suspicion under Article 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding the aggressor state).
The investigation is ongoing. The suspects face up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
