Kherson region: SBU exposes corrupt Patrol Police officers

In Kherson region, the SBU found that three Patrol Police officers organized illegal business in October, 2020.

During the vehicle weight control, they demanded UAH 500 (USD 19) from each driver for unimpeded shipping of oversized cargo. A local entrepreneur, who was a mediator, helped the offenders and took money.

Allegedly, the offenders could daily receive UAH 25,000 (USD 932).

SBU operatives has detained two offenders. The searches are ongoing of the regional Patrol Police Office, vehicle weight control posts and the offenders’ residences.

During the searches, law enforcement seized large sums of money in cash and bank cards. 

Within the criminal proceeding initiated for criminal offense committed by a group of persons, or a group of persons upon prior conspiracy, or an organized group, or a criminal organization; taking a bribe, the investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all the individuals involved.

The issue of serving the suspicion notices is being resolved. A type of detention is being chosen.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Unite of State Bureau of Investigations under the supervision of Kherson Region Prosecutor’s Office.
