SBU detects corruption schemes in the State Fisheries Agency: state losses amounted to UAH 20 million
The Security Service of Ukraine has detected large-scale corruption in the units of the State Fisheries Agency. According to preliminary estimates, the criminal actions of officials caused the state losses to over UAH 20 million.
SBU officers discovered several corruption mechanisms at once. All of them are structured on fictitious contracts concluded by enterprises subordinated to the Agency.
It was established that the agreements existed only on paper, and no one proceeded to their implementation. Among other things, the SBU established the following facts with signs of fictitiousness:
- use of reservoirs and their stocking;
- construction on the territory of Kyiv region of an enterprise for fish bioresources breeding;
- unprofitable transfer in freight of "Tamanskiy" vessel.
- As part of initiated criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers conducted authorized searches of crime scenes. Documents confirming the illegal nature of the activities of the involved persons were seized.
The issue of serving the organizers and accomplices suspicion notices of criminal activity is being resolved.
Measures to counter illegal transactions were carried out by officers of the SBU Main Department for Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Interests in the Sphere of Economic Security together with investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office.
