In Odesa region, the SBU Military CI exposed corruption at two state-owned enterprises of the Ministry of Defense. Officials illegally rented out Ministry’s facilities and misappropriated the income.

Monthly losses to the state budget amounted to circa UAH 500,000 (USD 19,000).

Allegedly, organizers covertly leased 2,500 sq. m of state-owned warehouses and production facilities.

Officials also illegally hired several people, who did not perform their duties, to state authorities. Thus, the officials misappropriated their salaries.

During the searches at the organizer’s residence and office, the SSU seized from the cache:

• documents with evidence of illegal activity;
• unlicensed arms with ammo;
• gold bars;
• seized items were sent for examination.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of illegal activity and prosecute people involved.

The operation was conducted by SBU Military CI jointly with the National Police Directorate in Odesa region under the supervision of Odesa Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Military and Defense Sphere.
