SSU exposes Kyiv resident who revealed air defence positions on Telegram (video)
The SSU’s cyber units have detained a Kyiv resident who filmed the positions of Ukrainian air defence forces on his mobile phone and shared the footage on Telegram.
According to the investigation, the suspect filmed the locations of Defence Forces units through the windscreen of his car and sent the footage to a sanctioned blogger who previously worked for Viktor Medvedchuk’s television channel and is currently outside Ukrainian-controlled territory.
An expert assessment initiated by the SSU confirmed that the public dissemination of classified information about the Defence Forces had caused harm to Ukraine’s state security.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion of committing an offence under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised dissemination of information on deployment of the AFU that enables their identification on the ground, committed under martial law).
The suspect faces up to eight years in prison.
The investigation is carried out under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
The Security Service once again urges citizens not to take or disseminate photos or videos of enemy attacks. In particular, citizens should not publish content depicting the combat operations of air defence forces, russian attacks on military facilities, or attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
The SSU systematically investigates cases involving the dissemination of such material online and holds those responsible to account. This offence is punishable by imprisonment.
We urge Ukrainians to act responsibly, not to aid the enemy, and not to endanger other citizens.
