SBU uncovers million deals with illegal social payments to combatants
The Security Service of Ukraine has blocked a large-scale embezzlement of budget funds intended for social payments to combatants. The losses of the state due to the illegal allocation of aid amount to almost UAH 7 million.
According to the investigation, officials of medical institutions and social institutions of the capital, as well as Kyiv and Ternopil regions are involved in transactions with state funds. The involved persons contributed to the unjustified registration of disability card to combatants and appropriated the payments provided by law.
17 episodes related to the appointment of illegal payments in 2018-2019 have been documented.
During the searches conducted at residences of involved persons, the law enforcement officers seized documents of persons and many bank cards. If the deal is continued, the group members would be able to get more than UAH 6 million from the state budget.
Four involved persons were served suspicion notices of of committing crimes, provided for by Part 4 Art. Art. 190 and Part 2 Art. 15, Part 4 Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation is under way.
Measures to expose fraud were conducted jointly with investigators of the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Ternopil local prosecutor's office.
