SBU exposes multimillion misappropriation of state funds in state-owned corporation
The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), disrupted a large-scale corruption scheme in the JSC State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine. The former head of the corporation’s branch is charged with embezzlement of almost UAH 15 m. (555,000).
According to the investigation, the official organized an illegal scheme to benefit from the sale of agricultural products. The participants of the scheme illegally obtained 3,200 tons of grain from the state elevator and sold it through affiliated companies.
Currently, the organizer of the scheme was served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation. A type of detention is to be chosen.
The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the case and bring to justice other persons involved in the illegal activities.
The operation was carried out by employees of the SBU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Economic Interests together with the NABU detectives, under the supervision of the SAPO.
