The SSU has documented subversive activities of another cleric of Cherkasy diocese of moscow patriarchate’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

This is the church rector from Korsun-Shevchenkivske deanery who justified russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

He spread videos among the community members calling not to participate in the resistance to russian aggression and to flee abroad.

The cleric sent videos to local residents through popular messengers, in which he justified russian war crimes and tried to discredit Ukraine’s top military and political leadership.

In this way, the perpetrator was undermining the socio-political situation in the region.

The SSU-initiated examination confirmed the criminal actions of the UOC-MP priest.

Based on the evidence, he was served a notice of suspicion under Article 436-2.2, 436-2.3 of the CCU (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The investigation is ongoing. The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

In total, since the start of the full-scale invasion, 8 clerics of Cherkasy UOC-MP diocese have been declared suspects for publicly supporting the aggressor and spreading enemy propaganda.

The operation was carried by the SSU Office in Cherkasy region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Smila District Prosecutor’s Office.
