The SSU’s cyber units have exposed another two pro-russian agitators in Sumy. Both perpetrators justified russia’s armed aggression and disseminated false information about the situation on the front line.

One of the suspects is a local doctor who published pro-kremlin content in Telegram chats.

The investigation revealed that this individual called for the Sumy region to be seized and then ‘annexed’ by russia.

Furthermore, the supporter of ruscism denied that russia is shelling residential areas and other civilian infrastructure in the regional centre.

The other suspect, also a Sumy resident, denied the crimes committed by ruscists in Bucha and called on social media for an increase in missile and drone strikes on Ukraine.

He also supported the occupation of Ukraine’s eastern and southern regions, spread disinformation about the Defence Forces, and wished for a complete capture of the frontline region.

Linguistic analyses initiated by the Security Service confirmed the agitators’ subversive information activities for russia’s benefit.

During the searches of the suspects’ homes, smartphones containing evidence of the crimes were seized.

SSU investigators have notified the detainees of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

• 110.1 (encroachment upon the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
• 436-2.3 (justifying, recognising as legal or denying russia’s  armed aggression against Ukraine and glorifying its participants).

The suspects face up to eight years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigations were carried out by the SSU Office in Sumy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
