The SBU exposed an acting head of the Regional Office of Water Resources in Luhansk region on corruption.

It was established that the management of the state structure took bribes for assistance in approving passports of water bodies.

Allegedly, the official regularly extorted money, in particular for issuing so-called "water passports". SBU officers documented receiving of money from a businessman.

Law enforcement officers documented taking the first part of a bribe by the official and detained him red-handed while receiving the rest of the money.

Searches within criminal proceedings for taking bribes are ongoing.

Investigative actions take place in offices of the Regional Office of Water Resources in Luhansk region and the Siverskyi Donets Basin Administration of Water Resources of the State Water Resources Agency. Serving of suspicion notice and terms of detention are being considered.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Main Investigative Department of the National Police under legal supervision of the General Prosecutor General’s Office.
