The Security Service of Ukraine blocked a large-scale scheme for industrial production and sale of counterfeit fuel in Dnipropetrovsk region. Allegedly, the dealers produced wholesale consignments of diesel fuel of dubious quality worth millions of hryvnias every day.

Three organizers set up an illegal oil refinery for further sale of the finished products through logistics centers located in Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions.

The suspects were selling counterfeit diesel fuel through affiliated gas stations that operated without the appropriate permits and licenses.

During the searches of the places of production, storage and sale of fuels and lubricants, the law enforcement officers found:

• more than 160 tons of counterfeit fuel;
• industrial technological equipment;
• seals and stamps of affiliated commercial entities;
• financial and economic documentation and draft records proving the illegal activities.

The investigation of deliberate marketing and sale of products of poor quality is ongoing.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Interests in the Sphere of Economic Security jointly with investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region, under the supervision of Dnipropetrovsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
