The SBU exposed an illegal scheme in Ukrzaliznytsia branch in Kryvyi Rih. Officials deliberately underestimated the cost of transport services in favor of affiliated private companies.

Within the criminal proceedings, the SBU initiated a forensic accounting examination. According to experts, illegal activity caused the state losses of almost UAH 7.5 m. (USD 277,800).

Allegedly, one of the heads of the regional branch organized evasion of payments for the use of Ukrzaliznytsia's rolling stock by entrepreneurs.

The SBU established that the officials provided freight wagons with additional technological equipment to an industrial enterprise for transportation of its goods. However, they entered into the accounting documents prices for the use of conventional wagons.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers found documents proving the illegal activities.

Following the SBU investigation, the offender received a suspicion notice of neglect of official duty. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the offense and bring to justice other people involved in the unlawful scheme.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the supervision of the Central District Prosecutor's Office in Kryvyi Rih.
