The SBU cyber specialists jointly with investigators of the SBU Main Investigation Department blocked illegal production and sale of the special equipment for obtaining information.

Allegedly, representatives of a company set up illegal production of special equipment for eavesdropping on mobile phones.

The underground manufacture was carried out on the basis of technological resources of the offenders’ enterprise.

The perpetrators sold the ready goods via personal connections and motivated customers.

During the searches of the offenders’ offices and residences, law enforcement officers seized documents with evidence of illegal activity, software and hardware used for searching and locating of MDTs. Also, officers seized other equipment for covert audio surveillance.

The investigation is ongoing upon the fact of illegal use of special technology for secret obtaining of information.

The Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for 4-7 years of imprisonment for such actions.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
