The SBU exposed and blocked the illegal scheme of installing low-quality spare parts on Ukrzaliznytsia rolling stock. This could have led to emergencies at the railway facilities.

The SBU operatives established that a company set up production and sale of spare parts of improper quality and unknown origin.

The law enforcement officers conducted investigation at the place of underground production and storage of spare parts. During the searches, the SBU seized equipment for manufacturing spare parts and counterfeit products worth almost UAH 2 m. (USD 70,000).

Within the investigation, the SBU initiated a number of examinations. The examinations confirmed the falsification of the identification marks of spare parts. Also it was established that these spare parts were previously used in the operation of Ukrzaliznytsia freight cars.

The exposed low-quality products were seized.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Offices in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the SBU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Economic Security, jointly with the Investigation Department of the National Police in Luhansk Region under supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
