SSU detains russian agents who collected intelligence on deployment of Ukrainian special forces in Donetsk region
As a result of an operation in Donetsk and Kirovohrad regions, the SSU dismantled a russian intelligence network. The agents gathered intelligence on deployment and movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of the front in the east of Ukraine.
During the searches, investigators seized from the suspects computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of passing information to russian special services.
In Donetsk region, enemy agents scouted the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka.
They were primarily interested in data on the number of personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Through anonymous Telegram channels, the informants transmitted the collected intelligence to occupiers, including precise geolocations on electronic maps and descriptions of facilities.
According to the investigation, the enemy agents are two locals, recruited by the aggressor state after the start of the full-scale invasion to carry out reconnaissance and subversive activity in the east of Ukraine.
Another russian agent was detained in Kropyvnytskyi. He put on Google maps the coordinates of the movement of Ukrainian troops through the territory of the region.
The informant passed this information through messenger apps to his relatives in russia, who were in contact with the special services of the aggressor state.
SSU investigators have notified the three detained traitors of suspicion. The court has ruled to keep the suspects in custody.
The operations to expose enemy agents were carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts and the SSU Office in Kirovohrad Oblast under the procedural supervision of Donetsk and Kirovohrad Region Prosecutor’s Offices.
