The SBU exposed misappropriation of budget funds during reconstruction of the state agricultural facilities in the city of Volnovakha. The officials embezzled over UAH 3 m. (USD 107,142).

SBU operatives established that the officials of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences had concluded fictitious contacts with private companies to restore a number of institution’s buildings. However, it was not carried out at all or just partially. The offenders also illegally traded in agricultural products.

During searches and inspections of buildings and premises, law enforcement officers documented illegal activities and seized documents confirming the unlawful scheme.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated for misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation, the investigation is underway to prosecute all people involved in the illegal business.

The operation was carried out jointly with investigators of the Main National Police Department in Donetsk Region under the supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
