SSU exposes yet another Kyiv resident for leaking air defence positions on Telegram (video)
Cyber units of the Security Service have detained another Kyiv resident who photographed and leaked the locations of Ukrainian air defence systems online.
The investigation revealed that the woman sent photos of the Defence Forces’ positions to the administrator of a local Telegram channel and to her acquaintances.
Soon afterwards, these photographs were ‘picked up’ by kremlin propagandists, who began using them to justify russian attacks on Kyiv.
This is the third person within one week whom the SSU has caught revealing locations of the Defence Forces in the capital.
This time, the perpetrator is an employee of a cleaning company who filmed the positions of Ukraine’s air defence systems on her mobile phone through the windscreen of her car whilst driving through the city.
An expert assessment initiated by the SSU confirmed that harm had been caused to Ukraine’s state security as a result of public dissemination of classified information about the Defence Forces.
SSU investigators have notified the individual in question of her status as a suspect under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised dissemination of information on the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, enabling their identification on the ground, committed under martial law).
The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
The Security Service once again urges citizens not to take or disseminate photographs or videos of enemy attacks. In particular, do not publish content that reveals the locations of air defence systems, their operations, or russian strikes on military installations and critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
The SSU systematically investigates cases of such material being published online and holds those responsible to account. The penalties for the offence include imprisonment.
Please, act responsibly, do not aid the enemy, and do not endanger other citizens.
