SSU uncovers another three online agitators who praised russia’s armed aggression and called on Ukrainians to ‘lay down armsʼ
The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed three enemy agitators in several regions of Ukraine. They justified russia’s armed aggression and awaited complete occupation of our country.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, a protopriest of a local church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (moscow patriarchate) was detained for praising ruscists during liturgies and calling on Ukrainians to lay down their arms.
According to the investigation, the cleric filmed his pro-kremlin propaganda and planned to send the videos to Kirill (Gundyayev), patriarch of the russian orthodox church, to prove his loyalty to the occupiers.
On Telegram, the priest spread russian propagandists’ calls for the capture of Ukraine.
The perpetrator was arrested at the end of September. Given his cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced the accused to three years in prison with a one-year probation period.
In Kyiv region, the SSU cyber units exposed a 58-year-old former law enforcement officer who supported moscow’s narratives about Ukraine’s surrender and disarmament in enemy online communities.
In addition to leaving approving comments under anti-Ukrainian posts, he also forwarded these publications to his acquaintances.
In Donetsk region, a 42-year-old displaced person from the temporarily occupied Makiivka was detained for supporting the occupation of the eastern region and glorifying ruscists on Odnoklassniki social network.
As the investigation established, the man disseminated posts thanking the russian invaders for the war against our state.
Linguistic examinations initiated by the SSU confirmed the facts of subversive activities by the perpetrators in the interests of russia.
They have now been notified of suspicion, according to the offences committed, under the Articles of the CCU:
- 110.4 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
- 436-2.2, 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The suspects face up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operational and investigative actions were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region as well as in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutors’ Offices.
