SBU suspends smuggling of drugs

The SBU blocked two drug trafficking channels into Ukraine. Average income was dozens of thousands of dollars per month.

The SBU exposed two drug dealers at Boryspil International Airport.
The offenders tried to smuggle a consignment of pseudoephedrine (a precursor used in underground drug labs to produce methamphetamine).

Drug dealers entered false information into customs declaration and smuggled narcotics under the guise of medicines. They planned to sell it via their own network of drug dealers.

The SBU found that the suspects are involved in drug trafficking organization from one of the African countries. Law enforcement also identified the organizer of drug group in Ukraine. The issue of serving the offenders suspicion notices is being resolved. Custody is being chosen as a type of detention.

In Kyiv, SBU operatives detained another organizer of drug trafficking. Criminal group illegally imported cannabis from a North American country under the guise of cosmetics. They smuggled drugs via the international mail services.

Law enforcement detained the offender red-handed while receiving the illegal parcel.

The SBU officers served him a suspicion notice of smuggling of narcotics, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv region.
