SSU apprehends student who, acting on FSB’s behalf, guided russian attacks at Cherkasy region
In the Cherkasy region, the SSU Counterintelligence has exposed yet another agent of russia’s federal security service. The perpetrator directed russian missile and drone attacks on the energy infrastructure of central Ukraine.
According to the investigation, a local student recruited by the enemy was responsible for adjusting the airstrikes. He was spotted by the FSB while seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram.
After a promise of quick payments, the agent agreed to track the location of one of the key energy facilities.
He identified the location of the critical infrastructure facility and, under the guise of a walk, photographed the site.
He then stored the intelligence on his smartphone to prepare a ‘report’ for his handler.
The SSU identified the suspect at the initial stage of his intelligence activities and detained him in a student dormitory, when he was preparing to pass the data to russia.
A computer and a smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the FSB were seized from the suspect during the search.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The enemy accomplice is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Cherkasy Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The Security Service of Ukraine urges citizens to remain vigilant. If you are approached with dubious proposals, see suspicious objects or individuals, or have information about the activities of russian intelligence services, or about websites and social media pages they use for recruitment, please report this to the SSU:
