SSU exposes Telegram channel administrator in Dnipro leaking Ukrainian Defence Forces positions to social media
The Security Service has uncovered new evidence of the unauthorised dissemination of data on the Defence Forces’ deployment. Following an operation in Dnipro, the SSU blocked the subversive activities of an owner of a local Telegram channel, who disclosed coordinates of Ukrainian defenders.
The investigation established that the woman set up and administered a separate chat where users posted geolocations of checkpoints and backup command posts of Ukrainian defenders in the region.
Members of the online community also leaked the locations and movement routes of mobile law enforcement units and Territorial Recruitment Centres’ personnel in frontline cities of the region.
Such data could have been used by russia to prepare new waves of missile, drone, and artillery strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Smartphones, from which she managed the dissemination of classified information regarding Ukraine’s defence, were found during the searches of the perpetrator’s home.
SSU investigators have notified her of suspicion under Article 114-2 of the CCU (unauthorised dissemination of information on the movement, deployment, or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations).
The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
