The SBU exposed fake sale of senior positions in the Main Department of the National Police in Rivne region.

Allegedly, the officer of the National Police jointly with his accomplices organized the scheme. The offenders, having connections with the “high officials”, claimed that they could lobby for the appointment of any leading position in the regional National Police system. The offenders demanded USD 500,000 from current police officers for the opportunity to head the department. The position of the head of the unit was estimated at between USD 50,000 and USD 100,000.

According to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the law enforcement detained the officer and his accomplice near one of the shopping malls of Rivne city on receiving the first part of the bribe (USD 25,000).

The investigation is ongoing upon the fact of fraud.

The operation was conducted under the legal supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
