SSU exposes AFU serviceman recruited by ruscists on dating websites: traitor passed information on Kharkiv region’s defenders to enemy

With the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service’s Military Counterintelligence has detained another enemy informant in the Kharkiv region.

The perpetrator is a conscript from the Dnipropetrovsk region, an assistant UAV operator, who was recruited by russia.

He came to the attention of the aggressor’s intelligence services on Telegram channels for romantic connections.

The ruscists recruited him via a fake account belonging to a virtual girl, using her as a cover to extract the required information.

The investigation revealed that the asset had passed on data on his reconnaissance battalion and adjacent units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Vovchansk area to the enemy. These units are fighting just 10 km from the front line.

The SSU took action to protect the positions of Ukrainian troops and apprehended the agent near the training ground.

A smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was seized from the detainee during searches.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised disclosure of information on the deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody, facing up to eight years’ imprisonment. The decision to classify his actions as high treason is under consideration.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Kharkiv Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office.
