SSU exposes enemy spotter in Lviv
In Lviv, the SSU Counterintelligence has detained an enemy informant who was collecting data on the locations of the Defence Forces for missile strikes.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a 21-year-old local resident. Being addicted to gambling, he was looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram to pay off his debts.
In this messenger app, he was recruited by a russian handler, who offered him cooperation in exchange for money.
The SSU detained the enemy accomplice at his home.
As the investigation established, the individual walked around the city using a mobile application to record the coordinates of the locations where Defence Forces personnel were concentrated.
He also tried to identify military units and other restricted facilities that could become potential ‘targets’ for the aggressor.
The agent stored the collected data on his smartphone as photos of buildings and their coordinates.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorised dissemination of information on the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces up to 12 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Lviv region jointly with the State Border Guard Service under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
