SSU exposes university lecturer who was FSB informant and adjusted russian strikes on Kharkiv

The SSU has detained another informant of russia’s federal security service who was collecting intelligence on locations of Ukrainian troops in Kharkiv region.

This is a lecturer from a local university, who was recruited remotely by the russian service this summer.

On the enemy instructions, the woman walked around Kharkiv and its surrounding areas, trying to identify locations of fortifications and strongholds of the Defence Forces.

She paid special attention to the areas of large concentration of AFU personnel and heavy weapons.

The agent also monitored the routes of military convoys towards the frontline.

The collected data was sent to her russian handler in an anonymous chat. The woman marked the coordinates of military facilities on Google maps and added a text description to them.

The SSU uncovered the perpetrator at an early stage, documented her crimes and detained her in her apartment. During the search, the investigators seized her mobile phone with evidence of intelligence and sabotage activities against Ukraine.

Based on the evidence, the SSU notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.1 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer, movement of weapons, armaments and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or location of the AFU).

The suspect is in custody without the right to be released on bail. She faces up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
