SBU shuts down illegal supply of medicines to "DNR"

The SBU exposed and blocked the illegal supply of medicines to “DNR” terrorists. The suspects declared that the cargo was intended for Georgia, but in fact, it was delivered to the separatist-held territories.

During a range of searches in Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions, the law enforcement seized:

  • 1,000 kg of medicines with a total value of UAH 1.9 m. (USD 70,000);
  • 18 tons of cosmetic products worth UAH 800,000 (USD 30,000),
  • invoices.

According to the invoices submitted to the customs authorities, the medicines were to be delivered to sham companies registered in the Republic of Georgia, which acted as purchasers of the goods.

The scheme organizers were the residents of Dnipropetrovsk region. The suspects were exporting medicines via customs checkpoints in Eastern Ukraine.

The offenders are to be served notices of suspicion of assistance to a terrorist organization. The investigation is ongoing to identify all those involved in the illegal activity.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Office in the Dnipropetrovsk region together with the SBU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of State Economy, under the supervision of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
