SSU exposes traitor who wanted to lure Ukrainian combat pilots to russia
The SSU Counterintelligence exposed a russian agent who collected intelligence on the AFU’s airfields as well as personal data of Ukrainian military pilots.
The traitor is a retired military pilot, resident of the temporarily occupied Berdiansk.
At the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, he contacted one of the commanders of the 52nd heavy bomber regiment of the russian armed forces, with whom he had studied at a pilot school.
The man offered the ruscist his assistance in the war against Ukraine.
The investigation established that the traitor had been preparing lists of serving pilots of Ukraine’s Air Force.
The enemy was primarily interested in specialists with practical experience in flying MiG-29, Su-24, Su-25, Su-27, An-26 and Il-76 aircraft, as well as Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters.
According to intelligence, ruscists planned to use this information to attempt to recruit Ukrainian pilots to work for the aggressor state.
To collect personal data, the traitor called his former groupmates and asked them questions trying to elicit information. He expected that they would unwittingly provide the pilots’ additional contact details, places of residence and service.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the individual of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The perpetrator is hiding from justice in the temporarily occupied territory in southern Ukraine. However, the SSU is acting to bring him to justice.
The SSU Zaporizhzhia Office carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
