SSU disrupts two new schemes for men of call-up age to illicitly leave Ukraine
In Kyiv, the SSU exposed a group that ‘helped’ conscripts to leave Ukraine using forged documents. The ‘reason’ for leaving is ‘unfit for military service.’
The organizers charged USD 7,000 per person and guaranteed unimpeded border crossing. On the other side, foreign accomplices were waiting for the ‘fugitives’.
As a result of a special operation simultaneously in Kyiv, Lviv and Zakarpattia regions, the law enforcement detained five suspects.
In Ivano-Frankivsk region, the SSU detained members of another criminal group who for money ‘helped’ men of call-up age to go abroad. A local criminal and a head of a local visa agency were involved in the scheme.
For € 7,000, they prepared a full package of fictitious documents ‘confirming’ that the evaders supposedly belonged to volunteer organizations. On this basis, their names were entered into a database of persons allowed to cross the border.
The SSU documented the members of the group receive UAH 270,000 for crossing the border by a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region and detained two suspects ‘red-handed’.
Investigations are currently underway into both cases. The detainees have been notified of suspicion under Article 332 of the CCU - illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine.
The SSU carried out the operation together with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Kyiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
