SSU dismantles another Russian agent network collecting defence-related intelligence (video)

The SSU Counterintelligence has exposed an agent network of Russian special services. The perpetrator, a resident of Kharkiv, was collecting intelligence for the aggressor state on Ukrainian new weapon systems.

The SSU operatives established that the employee of the so-called Ministry of State Security of DNR recruited a resident of Kharkiv to gather intelligence. An FSB officer supervised the recruitment and subsequent activity.

The agent was to collect intelligence on location and movement of Ukrainian law enforcement units as well as information related to defence. The spy sent the collected material through electronic communication channels to the so-called special services of DNR and FSB officers.

Within the initiated criminal proceedings, the SSU prevented leakage of information from classified defence research programs, which the agent was trying to obtain from one of Kharkiv institutes.

The SSU detained the spy in Kharkiv centre.

The detainee has been served a notice of suspicion of crimes under Article 111.1 (high treason) and Article 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the CCU.
