The SBU blocked unlawful export of timber from natural reserve in Chernivtsi region. Allegedly, state losses top UAH 3.3 m. (USD 122,676).

The SBU documented that officials of the regional state forestry set up illegal felling of wood in wildlife refuge and, then, exported timber.

The law enforcement conducted 14 searches of Chernivtsi Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting. As a result, they seized timber, seals and documents proving illegal activity.

The former head of state-owned enterprise is served a suspicion notice of excess of authority or official powers.

The investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the illegal activity and prosecute people involved.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Chernivtsi region jointly with the SBU Main Directorate for CI Protection of the State Economic Interests, territorial unit of the State Bureau of Investigations in Khmelnytsky region, the Main National Police Directorate in Chernivtsi region under the supervision of Chernivtsi Region Prosecutor`s Office.
