SSU prevents smuggling of precursors (video)

SSU continues fighting against transnational drug organizations and illicit drugs smuggling. In Boryspil International Airport a group, which tried to smuggle bulk quantity of pseudoephedrine – precursor for psychotropic substances production, was exposed.

Almost 80 kg of goods valued at UAH 12m. (USD 455,500) on the black market were seized from 5 offenders.

The smugglers hid almost 400,000 drug pills in their personal belongings, including ice cream buckets.

It was established that the dealers were smuggling precursors for sale from one of the African countries.

Currently, the issue of serving a suspicion notice and choosing a type of detention is being settled.

Within the criminal proceeding of smuggling of precursors the investigation is on-going to establish all the circumstances and to bring to justice individuals involved.  

The operation was conducted by the SSU Main Directorate of Combatting Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with the SSU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region, the State Customs Service, Boryspil Airport port control, the State Border Guard Service under procedural supervision of the Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
