Kyiv: SSU prevents USD 1 m illegal sale of land
In a special operation in Kyiv, the SSU dismantled an organized group involved in illegal alienation of land. The perpetrators illicitly seized several hectares of community land in Kyiv.
They attempted to sell a plot for USD 1 m.
The organizers were detained red-handed while handing over the money.
The group set up a scheme to alienate land for sale. To do this, they used forged contracts and title papers.
In April 2021, the offenders submitted false documents on four land plots in Kyiv to a Mykolaiv region district court to transfer the ownership to an affiliated entity.
Following the court’s positive decision, they entered the data into the State Register of Real Rights to Immovable Property and looked for clients to sell the unlawfully obtained plots.
The investigation into fraud is ongoing to establish all circumstances of illegal activity and bring involved individuals to justice.
The SSU Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime carried out the operation jointly with the National Police and under the supervision of the Kyiv Pecherskyi District Prosecutor’s Office.
Under 62 Article of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until proven guilty and until relevant court’s verdict.
