SSU prevents raider seizure of Ukrposhta facilities on Black Sea coast

The SSU continues systemic work to protect critical infrastructure of our country. As a result of an operation, the SSU blocked a scheme of appropriating of Ukrposhta JSC real estate in the coastal zone of Odesa region.

Due to the SSU’s prompt response, it was possible to prevent illegal alienation of state property on the sea coast worth dozens of millions of hryvnias.

According to the investigation, the unlawful activity was carried out by a criminal group specializing in raider seizures of state-owned real estate. The fraudsters tried to seize the premises of the state-owned postal company near coastal protective strip in Zatoka village.

To capture the facilities, the suspects forged property documents and in collusion with a notary registered the property under fictitious persons. Then, the ‘re-registered’ state property was transferred to the ownership of an affiliated commercial entity.

During searches of the perpetrators’ residences and offices, law enforcement officers found evidence of criminal activity.

Two organizers of the scheme have been notified of suspicion under:

  • Article 190.4 (fraud),
  • Article 358.3, 358.4 (forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals and stamps),
  • Article 362.3 (unauthorized actions with information processed in electronic computers, automated systems, computer networks or stored on data carriers of such information, committed by a person entitled to access it) of the CCU.

The court is to choose the measure of restraint. The investigation is underway.

The SSU Office in Odesa region carried out the operation together with the National Police investigators and under the procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
