SSU detains FSB agent preparing new russian strikes on Kyiv CHP

The SSU has detained another individual who was coordinating russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. He turned out to be a fsb agent who was preparing a new series of missile and drone strikes on thermal power plants and electrical substations that supply the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions.

According to information provided by cybersecurity experts and the SSU investigators, while carrying out attacks on energy facilities, the perpetrator was also spying on Defence Forces bases in northern Ukraine.

As the investigation revealed, the enemy’s task was carried out by an employee of a granite processing plant in the Zhytomyr region who had been recruited by the ruscists.

The man came to the attention of russian intelligence officers while searching for ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels.

After being recruited, the agent began monitoring the consequences of previous attacks on local energy facilities in both regions under the guise of work trips.

At the same time, he identified the locations with the highest concentrations of Defence Forces personnel and equipment, as well as the locations of operational airfields and military training grounds.

The SSU officers documented the crimes committed by the russian agent and detained him at his workplace.

In addition, the SSU took comprehensive measures to secure the facilities and locations that the suspect had been surveilling.

During searches of the perpetrators, a smartphone containing evidence of collaboration with the enemy was seized.

The SSU investigators served the agent with a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (treason committed under martial law).

The perpetrator is being held in custody without the right to post bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Comprehensive measures were carried out by officers of the SSU Main Directorate in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
