SSU detains FSB agent preparing new russian attack on Khmelnytskyi region

In the Khmelnytskyi region, the SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy agent. Acting on orders from russia’s federal security service, the perpetrator gathered coordinates for a new series of missile and drone attacks on the area.

The investigation revealed that the strikes were guided by a 22-year-old student from Kharkiv, who had been recruited by the enemy and moved to western Ukraine after the start of the war.

He came to the FSB’s attention when he compiled a list of potential target locations and sent it to a dedicated russian chatbot.

The targets on this list included electrical substations, logistics depots, industrial workshops, administrative buildings, and reserve command posts of the Defence Forces.

The suspect also hired a car to drive around the city and monitor the aftermath of previous strikes on Khmelnytskyi, reporting back to his handler in russia.

He sent the collected data to the russian intelligence via a messaging app, marking the Ukrainian targets on Google Maps.

The SSU Counterintelligence identified and detained the spotter.

During the searches, the investigators found a russian passport issued prior to the start of the full-scale war, as well as a smartphone containing evidence of his work for the enemy.

The detainee has been notified of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Khmelnytskyi region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
