SSU detains FSB agent preparing arson attacks on Territorial Recruitment Centers and railway relay cabinets in Odesa region
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained an FSB agent who operated in Odesa oblast. His tasks included arsons at the facilities of the Defense Forces and Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian railway].
The aggressor intended to target administrative buildings and vehicles of local Territorial Recruitment Centers.
To identify their locations and commit the attacks, the russian FSB recruited a 26-year-old resident of Izmail district, Odesa region.
The enemy asset traveled around the district and recorded the locations of Ukrainian defenders.
After identifying a potential target, he was supposed to approach it and burn it using a flammable substance.
The agent was also preparing arsons of relay cabinets near the main railway lines in the area.
The SSU worked proactively: the traitor was identified, his actions – documented and he was detained when conducting reconnaissance near a Territorial Recruitment Center.
According to the investigation, the enemy ‘spotted’ the young man because of his anti-Ukrainian comments in the chats in pro-kremlin Telegram channels.
After recruitment, communication was carried out through a messenger app, where he received instructions on priority targets and how to burn them.
The agent hoped to receive money from the FSB, which was to be transferred to his crypto wallet.
During the searches, the SSU seized his mobile phone with evidence of the sabotage actions.
SSU investigators have served the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Odesa Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
