SSU detains FSB agent preparing enemy missile strikes on Kirovohrad region evading Ukraine’s air defenses
In Kropyvnytskyi, the SSU has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service. He is a 34-year-old local resident who passed to the occupiers the locations of bases and routes of the Defense Forces.
The aggressor was most interested in air defense positions and coordinates of logistic depots of Ukrainian troops.
To obtain the intelligence, the traitor travelled around Kropyvnytskyi, trying to find anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations of the AFU.
If he found the targets, he was to take photos or videos of them and then tie the coordinates to Google maps.
The occupiers needed the data to prepare new missile and drone strikes on the region evading Ukrainian air defenses.
The agent was also tracking the time of movement and routes of Ukrainian military convoys towards the frontline.
For secrecy, the perpetrator constantly changed the routes of his reconnaissance sorties, which he carried out under the guise of walking.
The SSU caught the spy in action when he was collecting intelligence near a military facility.
At the scene, the Service seized the suspect’s mobile phone, which was used for photographing the Defence Forces object. The investigators also found an anonymous chat in a popular messenger app, which the asset used to communicate with the FSB.
SSU investigators have served the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
