SSU detains FSB agent adjusting russian attacks on airfields and energy facilities in western Ukraine
In Khmelnytskyi, the SSU Military Counterintelligence has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service. He guided russian missile and drone strikes at military and critical infrastructure facilities in western Ukraine.
The perpetrator is a 31-year-old local unemployed man who came to the enemy’s attention on Telegram channels offering easy money.
There, the individual was recruited by two FSB employees, who gave him several assignments:
- one handler demanded that he identify and provide the geolocations of Ukrainian Armed Forces airfields;
- the other handler expected the agent to provide the coordinates of key electrical substations, which the russians planned to destroy to cut off power to the region.
The traitor also collected coordinates of municipal institutions and National Police units and tried to identify private cars of law enforcement officers for possible future sabotage.
The SSU caught the spy red-handed while he was filming a local power substation.
At the scene, the suspect’s smartphone was seized. It contained evidence of his communication with the occupiers, as well as photos and videos of Ukrainian facilities that the agent intended to send to the FSB.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operational and investigative actions were carried out jointly with the SSU Khmelnytskyi Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
